A Solid New Platform Re-launches Smart-house for Complete Home Control

New smart house platformCarlo Gavazzi has made a sea change to its smart-house home automation system, providing many new features for home owners and improvements for installers.

Today it is necessary to have much more than simple lighting and heating control; we need to be more energy efficient, a process that starts by first identifying energy use in the home and then managing it.

The well proven Dupline 2-wire bus technology has undergone a major transformation to enable the new smart-house features to be implemented, and will be known as smart Dupline.

For installers this means that smart-house components can be discovered and addressed over the bus from the new configuration tool reducing commissioning time dramatically. Cabinet modules now feature test / override buttons for relays and dimmers, new modules have been developed with built in energy monitoring – a fundamental requirement for energy management, and panel wiring has been reduced by using a direct connect system between the modules for the bus connection.

For the home owner smart-house can now monitor and log any variable in the home including energy use (electricity, water & gas) energy generation from renewables, zone temperatures, light levels and events. This information can be displayed in a graphical format using the built in web server (mobile phone, tablet or PC) or transmitted in csv format via email for archiving.  This information can be used to fine tune the smart-house system to optimise energy consumption, making best use of renewables and variable tariffs.

The smart-house system provides seamless control of lighting (scene setting, dimming, constant light, simulated habitation, blinds) environmental control (heating and cooling, night setback, remote control) and alarm indication (water leak, smoke detection, intruder detection).  All of these functions can of course be combined to create master functions for example; a single input can trigger simulated habitation (key lights switch on and off using pre-recorded use), set the heating to a lower level and activate the alarm system, for when you leave the home.

Integration with third party systems (AV systems, renewable generation, security, door entry, CCTV) is possible with the new smart-house controller as it has been equipped with the necessary serial and network connections for this purpose, making it the ideal choice for installers and home owners who want a home automation system that will exceed their expectations and more.
