MK Electric is expanding the largest range of wiring devices in the UK with the launch of a new five watt USB charging module.
With the number of smartphones expected to quadruple globally from today's estimate of 500 million handsets to almost two billion by 2015, and USB becoming the key charging method of these devices, MK’s new USB charging module has been designed to meet rising consumer demand.
The product – which is part of MK’s comprehensive range of TV, data, power and audio euro modules – is able to charge iPads, mobile phones, satellite navigation devices, cameras and games controllers as well as smartphones, making it ideal for use in retail outlets, cafes, hotels, offices, airports, student accommodation, libraries and anywhere where there is a Wi-Fi network.
The module features two USB charging outlets allowing it to charge multiple devices without a drop in power, and can be used in conjunction with any MK 50mm x 50mm euro module frontplate, giving access to the complete portfolio of MK, from Logic Plus to the full decorative range offering. Both charging outlets have a high charging capacity of 1000mA.
Jason Ng, marketing communications specialist for MK Electric, said: “We are proud to be one of the first delivering USB charging modules to the UK market. Having been manufactured in the UK, along with a significant proportion of our portfolio, the product is produced to the highest standard and is a good example of how we continue to successfully grow our market-leading wiring devices and accessories offering.”
The USB charging module is available in either black or white to match the existing range of MK modules. It is manufactured to ISO 9002 certification with each product undergoing 100 percent electrical and visual testing to ensure reliability and safety.
