legrand ArteorLegrand has seen its Arteor wiring devices specified for use in a brand new royal home – although this one wasn’t built with the comfort of the Royal Family in mind, but rather to showcase the potential for low carbon, eco-friendly homes at this year’s Ideal Home Show.

Designed and built by the Prince’s Foundation for the Built Environment, The Prince of Wales’s Natural House was the centrepiece of the Earl’s Court show.

Based exclusively on environmentally friendly products, the home is being billed as the benchmark for new build homes for the future.

The Prince of Wales, President of the Prince’s Foundation for the Built Environment, said: “The Foundation’s Natural House is an attempt to introduce a new model for green building that is site-built, low-carbon and easily adapted for volume building.”

“It remains, however, recognisably a house. It doesn’t wear its 'green-ness’ as if it was the latest piece of haute couture; it is much more concerned with what works on the High Street in terms of good manners and courtesy.”

Caroline Boden, a marketing manager for Legrand’s wiring devices division, said: “The Foundation is interested in meeting the requirement for zero-carbon homes by 2016 and the Natural House is very much a vision of how these homes will look and feel. Therefore, to have products from our Arteor range recommended for use by the Prince’s Foundation is something we are rightly very proud of.”

Launched by Legrand in 2010, Arteor is a wiring device and home automation range that features everything from switches and sockets through to the most advanced home automation systems. Combining cutting edge style and state-of-the-art technology, it has quickly created a real buzz amongst electrical specifiers and interior designers and is currently being specified and installed in an array of high-profile developments.

The Arteor wiring devices, which have been installed throughout the Natural House, featured stainless steels plates with magnesium interiors.

With a 19 per cent share of the global market, Legrand is the world leader in wiring devices. The company is committed to the preservation of the environment across all aspects of its business, covering product development, marketing, design and manufacturing.
