The UK's first super low loss amorphous core distribution transformers - Lowest combined losses reducing operating costs and CO2 emissions.
Combining lower no load and load losses, Wilson e2 amorphous core transformers are the most efficient distribution transformers available today.
Achieving unrivalled savings in energy costs and associated CO2 emissions, an increasing number of clients are installing the Wilson e2 to reduce operating costs and lower their carbon emissions.
Based on an average 25-year transformer lifespan, a 1000kVA Wilson e2 transformer achieves typically £60,000 worth of energy costs savings during its service.
Additionally the Wilson e2 eliminates 370 tonnes of associated CO2 emissions; contributing not just to your bottom line but also your environmental credential and targets.
The higher upfront capital investment for the exceptional Wilson e2 transformer typically achieves payback in three years.
Because of the substantial energy savings the Wilson e2 can achieve, a purchase may be financed with an interest free loan from the Carbon Trust.
The Wilson e2 distribution transformer can be supplied for ratings from 315 to 2500 kVA.
What are amorphous metal core transformers? The cores of conventional transformers consist of stacks of laminations that are made from silicon steel with an almost uniform crystalline structure (CRGO). In transformers with amorphous cores, a ribbon of steel is wound forming the core.
The big benefit of amorphous metal core transformers is that amorphous steel has lower hysteresis losses. Simply put this means that less energy is wasted in magnetising and demagnetising it during each cycle of the supply current.
How much energy can be saved? The core of the majority of today’s transformers is made of CRGO steel. When this is replaced by amorphous metal, the core loss of the transformer is reduced by as much as 75%.
Advantages of Amorphous metal core transformers: • Up to 75% energy saving over conventional silicone steel (CRGO) • Reduced carbon dioxide emissions • Reduction in fossil fuel consumption • Reduced magnetising current • Reduced temperature rise of core
