BSI is Now UKAS Accredited for Compatibility Testing to EN 54-13 PDF Print E-mail

National bodies in many European countries are now setting requirements for the installation of fire alarms systems and their components. These requirements include compatibility - and manufacturers are increasingly being asked to provide proof that the components in a fire alarm system function correctly together.

You can prove the compatibility of components by testing the system to EN54-13. Many national bodies in Europe are now specifying this scheme.

BSI is currently the only UKAS accredited body in the UK with EN54-13 on their UKAS schedule. We can test the compatibility of the components in your fire alarm systems and give you the evidence you need to trade in Europe.

Next steps
Before your fire alarm systems are tested for compatibility, you need to make sure the components used in the system comply with the relevant parts of EN54 series where applicable.

Do you have product approvals for the components?
If the components in your system already have the necessary EN54 product approvals, then you could go straight for the EN 54-13 compatibility testing scheme.

Do your components need approving to parts 2 or 4 of EN54?
If you have control and indicating equipment or power supply equipment that needs testing, it would be more cost effective for you to have the testing for EN 54 parts 2 and 4 done at the same time as EN 54-13.
