megaman stratstoneChanging existing 250W Metal Halide lamps to Megaman’s 100W CLUSTERLITES has helped greatly reduce maintenance costs and, more importantly, reduce energy savings for a prestigious car showroom in Newport Pagnell, Buckinghamshire.

The Stratstone Rover dealer in London Road, Newport Pagnell has high bay luminaires suspended at approximately 5 metres within the main showroom.  As good lighting is imperative for showing cars to their best advantage, problems occurred when individual lamps started to fail at regular intervals, resulting in cherry pickers having to be utilised to change the lamps.  Disruption within the showroom was becoming a regular occurrence and principal dealer, Gary Phipps knew a solution had to be found.

Phil Benns, from local lighting maintenance supplier Kwiklite, suggested changing the original metal halide lamps to Megaman’s 100W CLUSTERLITES, an innovative, high wattage lighting solution which can provide a real alternative to HID lamps.   CLUSTERLITE can offer up to 33% savings in energy consumption and combines all the virtues of compact fluorescent technology with superb colour rendering, good lumen output and excellent lumen maintenance after 15,000 hours of operation.

Initially one CLUSTERLITE was installed to ensure that the lumen output matched that of the existing lamps and, after a testing period, it was agreed that there was no difference in light output.  All of the luminaires in the showroom have now been converted to CLUSTERLITE, a job that has required only a quick control gear adjustment to ensure that the power was directed straight into the new lamps.  The change from metal halide to CLUSTERLITES will result in energy savings of approximately 60% for Stratstone Rover and a vast reduction in maintenance time, costs and the inconvenience of constant re-lamping.

Following installation, Gary Phipps commented “We are delighted with the new lighting, there is no change in light level, no more maintenance work in the showroom and we have also been informed that payback on using the energy saving lighting is estimated at 15-18 months depending on usage, which is a bonus.”
