Siemens’ Building Technologies Division has now introduced the OZW772 web server as a new feature for its Synco building automation system. The web server, which is integrated directly in the building automation system, allows remote operation and control of HVAC devices via internet, thereby contributing to cost-effective and smooth system operation.
As a commercially available web browser is used for the user interface, no additional software needs to be installed.
The OZW772 web server offers almost unlimited functionality. It controls the complete Synco system (Synco 700, RXB/RXL, Synco living) and includes an integrated alarm system, which communicates maintenance instructions and possible faults in the HVAC system by email. These alerts allow the system administrator to react quickly in emergencies and also to avoid unnecessary servicing.
A major advantage of the OZW772 is simple set-up, which can be performed either using a web browser or the ACS700 Synco tool. Depending on the exact model, the web server is capable of automatically recognising and self-configuring for up to 64 connected Synco devices and all the connected data points. A library containing more than one hundred standard applications and the associated circuit diagrams allows simple visualisation of the system. Naturally, the circuit diagrams can be adapted individually and it is also possible to display a completely custom system. The customer can implement these changes directly in the browser. Operation is much simpler and clearer when the system display corresponds to the true state of affairs.
Various OZW772 types are available to suit different sizes of Synco system. As up to 64 Synco controllers can be remotely operated per web server, large systems can also be controlled and remotely operated using this technology. This compact device measuring only 88 x 90 x 40 mm (l x w x h) is suitable for wall-mounting or attachment to a top-hat rail but can also be used a desktop device. It comes with a plug-in power supply adapter and therefore does not require installation by a qualified electrician.
The OZW772 web server is immediately available. Prices range from 300 Euros for supporting one Synco device to 1200 Euros if 64 Synco devices require connection.
The Synco building automation system is part of Siemens’ environmental portfolio with which the company generated a turnover of approximately 23 billion Euros in 2009. That makes Siemens the largest international supplier of environmentally friendly technology. Customers reduced their carbon dioxide emissions by 210 million tonnes in the same time period by using corresponding products and solutions: that is as much CO2 as New York, Tokyo, London and Berlin cumulatively produce in one year.
