 Weidmüller enhances its Klippon® STB series of enclosures: stainless-steel series for use in standard industrial and harsh environments.
For decades customers from all over the world have been placing their trust in Weidmüller enclosures - a synonym for outstanding competence, quality and complete enclosure solutions; that also applies to the Klippon® STB series, which Weidmüller is introducing with a updated design.
The Klippon® STB (Small Terminal Box) range has been technically improved to be in line with the latest standards relating to hazardous area equipment (IEC / EN 60079, ATEX) and DIN 62208 which covers the empty enclosures. Made from stainless-steel type 1.4404 / 316L the Klippon® STB series is available in eight different sizes (120 mm x 120 mm x 80 mm up to 250 mm x 400 mm x 130 mm) and with an ingress protection of IP66.
The enclosures are supplied with a high temperature silicone gasket and to prevent the loss of the cellular structure, gasket compression control has been incorporated into the enclosure design. This protects against over compression of the gasket material and the potential for any loss in IP performance. The temperature range is from -50° C to +120° C.
The stainless steel design ensures a corrosion-resistant protection, which means for example the enclosures are suitable for applications that are found near to salt water environments. The Klippon® STB enclosures have an impact resistance of 7J for ATEX and 10 J for standard applications. A welded internal and external earth stud (M6) is fitted to meet the earthing requirements and an earthing screw is also installed into the completely removable lid as a standard feature. Mounting lugs are pre-fitted as standard and the enclosure has been vibration and shock tested to be secure in operation.
The Klippon® STB range is further enhanced with an extensive programme of accessories, which among other articles includes cable entries/ adapters/ blanking plugs/ sealing washers/ lock nuts and breather plugs. Weidmüller supplies the enclosure ready for installation. Customer-specific solutions are available on request.
