BBES’ Warrington office has been awarded a £3.6m contract to supply and install M&E services for a major refurbishment and remodelling project by Mansell at Greater Manchester Police’s (GMP) Rochdale divisional headquarters.
The £11.6m refurbishment project is being procured by GMP through a framework agreement with Mansell and BBES, Mansell are repeating their partnered approach, having already successfully delivered a new divisional headquarters at Bury, making GMP the obvious procurement route for this project.
Project manager Darren Lumb said: “Every effort is being made to provide Rochdale with the same high quality working environment that we’ve recently competed at Bury. From the M&E services to the final fixtures fittings and furniture we’re intent on providing a first class facility.”
The project is expected to achieve a BREEAM ‘Very Good’ rating.
All work will be carried out whilst the building remains occupied and will be phased according to the force’s operational requirements, therefore careful planning and liaison with all those affected will take place.
During the refurbishment of the 1960 building, BBES will ensure service diversions are carried out to maintain the operational requirements of the force. These services include heating, power, communications, security, fire and CCTV.
Security restrictions apply as the building remains in operation and all site personnel have been vetted according to GMP policy.
The 12-month project will be completed in late summer 2011.
