Support services and construction company Carillion is celebrating after winning three awards in the prestigious Partnerships for Schools (PfS) Excellence in Building Schools for the Future (BSF) Awards.
Carillion and Inspiredspaces – a company set up by Carillion and its joint venture partners to deliver new schools through the government’s BSF programme – received the awards at a ceremony at the Grosvenor House Hotel last week.
Inspiredspaces won the Local Education Partnership (LEP) category for its Nottingham City BSF programme, which is transforming education in the city. Mark Harding, Inspiredspaces LEP general manager said: “This is a great accolade and demonstrates that our relationship with Nottingham LEP is a true partnership where the partner organisations are working as one to the same goal.”
Inspiredspaces also won the Buildings Beyond Schools category for South Tyneside and Gateshead BSF Local Education Partnership, Cleadon Park Primary Care Centre and was highly commended in the Innovation in Student Engagement category for its Tameside BSF programme.
In addition, Carillion won the award for Most Versatile Learning Environment for Joseph Rowntree School in York.
Commenting on the successes, Rob Holt, Carillion Director for Education said: “We are delighted that our projects have been recognised through these prestigious PfS awards. Carillion and Inspiredspaces are leaders in the education sector and our projects are delivering the benefits of sustainable, community-focussed schools, fit for the 21st century to thousands of students and staff.”
PfS was established in 2004 to deliver the BSF programme which aims to transform secondary schools in England and is also responsible for delivering the Academies programme, which will see 400 Academies built across the country. The BSF Awards were introduced to bring together the BSF community to celebrate the most innovative projects and people involved in the programme.
